How the Funding Works

The ZADT administers its Funds through selected local financial institutions. The financial institutions on-lend to Zimbabwean agricultural value chain actors or agribusiness entities who have commercial linkages with smallholder farmers. The funding is also accessed directly by smallholder farmers from some financial institutions such as those which do micro-lending.

The Funding is accessed through three windows namely, the Inputs window, the Output/Marketing window and the Storage/Processing window. The input window relates to production and distribution of agricultural inputs whilst the output/marketing window consists of agricultural processes such as harvesting and marketing. The storage/processing window on the other hand addresses the need for safekeeping and processing of agricultural produce.

The ZADT does not provide grants but loans and other financial products, that the borrowers are expected to repay on terms and conditions that are agreed between the ZADT and its partner financial institutions.
